Stan Lynde was born in Billings, Montana, and was raised on his father's ranch near Lodge Grass, Montana, on the Crow Indian Reservation. During his early years he lived with his parents in "nearly every kind of dwelling you can imagine-- sheepwagon, soddy, dugout, line shack, log cabin, tent, and ranch house."
These early "grass roots" experiences helped form the basis for his two highly acclaimed syndicated cartoon strips, Rick O'Shay and Latigo, and later for his self-syndicated cartoon series, Grass Roots. His cartoons show the values of western and rural America.
The Old West Screen Saver contains 30 Stan Lynde cartoon scenes from Shag and Billy and favorite cow country quips.
